With a focus on clinical research, IDOR’s gastroenterology team works together with the gastroenterology services of the entire RDSL (Gastro D’Or) on projects looking for new drugs for inflammatory bowel disease, eosinophilic enteropathies, celiac disease, and neoplasms of the digestive tract.

As with other research areas, gastroenterology is dedicated to its own projects and conducting clinical trials sponsored by the pharmaceutical industry. Clinical trials include experiments with new drugs, research into repositioning drugs already available on the market, and comparisons between two or more available treatments for the same condition.

IDOR recently took part in a study into the long-term efficacy of a drug against Crohn’s disease in severe patients who had already used other therapies. In another project, the team is carrying out a demographic survey of the profile of patients with inflammatory bowel disease treated by the RDSL.
