We are a multi-disciplinary group dedicated to the study of the neurobiology and psychological processes behind human affiliative behavior, non-ordinary beliefs and experiences, values and neuropsychiatry??

The unit is co-directed by

Jorge Moll, MD, PhD [photo]: Dr. Moll is a neurologist focusing on fundamental cognitive mechanisms underlying human social behavior, moral emotions, values and decisions, including altruism, prospective thinking and cooperation. I have co-founded IDOR in 2010 in Brazil and founded the Scients Institute in 2018 (www.scients.org), a pioneer science California-based organization pushing the research boundaries across neuroscience, perception, consciousness, physics and biology.

Ronald Fischer, PhD [photo]: Dr. Fischer is a social psychologist focusing on the interplay between culture, cognition and behavior. Using experimental and observational methods in both lab and field studies to examine how individual differences in values, personality and beliefs function within and between different human populations. Acknowledging the complexity of studying human behavior transdisciplinary methods and theories to probe the multi-level interactions between individuals, communities and ecology, with a particular focus on mental health and morality.

Ricardo de Oliveira-Souza, MD, PhD [photo]: Dr. De Oliveira-Souza is a neurologist working on normal and abnormal human cognition and behavior on a macrolevel scale from the standpoint of neurology and neuropsychiatry. Focusing on the cerebral organization of human morality and antisocial behavior, motor and somatosensory systems, social emotions and motivations, language and praxis, neuroplasticity, congenital malformations of the human nervous system, and psychosurgery.
